SLOWSCAN FTP 2.0
================

Automatic SSTV Image Uploader for SlowscanTV.com
Windows release - 3 October 2026

WHAT IS NEW IN 2.0
------------------
Slowscan FTP 2.0 has a compact interface designed for a busy radio desktop.

- Compact, resizable main window.
- FTP and folder settings in a separate Settings window.
- Manual Start: uploading never starts automatically.
- Three display modes: Both, Image, or Activity.
- Large live preview of the SSTV image currently being processed.
- Upload progress and clear activity/status information.
- Local file handling after a confirmed upload:
Keep = leave the local image in place.
Archive = move it to a chosen local archive folder.
Delete = remove it after the upload is confirmed.
- Archive/Delete only happens after image1.jpg has been successfully verified.
- Remote band presets include:
    20m, 40m, 80m, 10m, 11m, 2m, 70cm, 10GHz and ISS.
- Passive FTP/FTPS operation.
- Automatic retry after temporary FTP errors.
- Proven rolling server archive:
    image1.jpg = newest
    image30.jpg = oldest
    maximum = exactly 30 images.

The separate manual "Upload image" feature is intentionally not included in
this release. Automatic folder monitoring is the supported upload method.

FIRST START / UPGRADE
---------------------
Version 2.0 uses the same Windows-user settings location as earlier versions:

%APPDATA%\SlowscanTVUploader

Existing FTP settings can therefore be reused.
The local-file action defaults safely to Keep when upgrading.

NORMAL USE
----------
1. Open Settings.
2. Enter/check the FTP server, username and password.
3. Choose the remote band, for example 20m or ISS.
4. Choose the local folder where the SSTV software saves JPG/JPEG images.
5. Choose Keep, Archive or Delete.
6. If Archive is selected, choose the local archive folder.
7. Click Test connection.
8. Save the settings.
9. Press Start.

Existing JPG/JPEG files that have not yet been successfully uploaded are
queued oldest first. New or changed images are then detected automatically.

SERVER BAND FOLDERS
-------------------
SlowscanTV automatically provisions the standard server band folders for
local SlowscanTV FTP accounts. This is important because some FTP subaccounts
cannot create new sibling folders themselves.

Supported server folders:

20m
40m
80m
10m
11m
2m
70cm
10ghz
iss

The program shows friendly names such as 10GHz and ISS, while using the
standard server folder names 10ghz and iss.

If a newly selected standard band is not accessible yet, wait for the next
SlowscanTV server heartbeat (normally about one minute) and test the
connection again.

ISS / ARISS SSTV
----------------
Choose ISS as the remote band when the local SSTV folder is receiving ISS /
ARISS SSTV images. The images are then kept separate from ordinary terrestrial
2m or 70cm activity and can appear in the ISS section/filter on SlowscanTV.

REMOTE ARCHIVE
--------------
The server archive uses image1.jpg through image30.jpg.

image1.jpg is always the newest image.
image30.jpg is the oldest image.
When the archive is full it remains at exactly 30 images.

LOCAL FILE SAFETY
-----------------
Keep is the default.

Archive and Delete are only performed after a successful upload and after
image1.jpg has been verified on the server.

If moving or deleting a local file fails, the upload remains successful and
the original local file is left in place when possible, with a warning in
the Activity log.
